Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) is set to make a strong return to ITB Berlin 2026 with the revival of the highly anticipated Maldivian Night and a dedicated international press conference, reinforcing the Maldives’ strategic build-up toward Visit Maldives Year 2027. ITB Berlin will take place from March 3rd to 5th at Messe Berlin, the world’s largest travel trade show.
While the Maldives will once again showcase its industry strength through a dynamic national pavilion, this year’s participation extends beyond the exhibition floor. The reintroduction of the Maldivian Night marks a significant highlight in the destination’s global engagement calendar. Designed as an exclusive, invitation-only gathering, the evening will bring together leading tour operators, airline partners, media representatives, travel trade executives, and key stakeholders to celebrate Maldivian hospitality, culture, and innovation.
Co-hosted in partnership with Bank of Maldives (BML), the Maldivian Night will also serve as the platform for unveiling BML Swipe, an advanced digital payment solution set to enhance transaction convenience across the islands. This initiative reflects the Maldives’ commitment to seamless visitor experiences and technological advancement as it prepares for Visit Maldives Year 2027.
In addition to the celebratory evening, Visit Maldives will host a high-level international press conference at ITB Berlin 2026, where a major announcement will be made to the global travel industry. While details remain under wraps, this announcement is expected to mark a significant milestone for the Maldives’ tourism strategy and signal the next phase of its global positioning beyond the Visit Maldives Year 2027 initiative.
The Maldives’ pavilion at ITB Berlin will once again showcase the diversity and strength of the destination under the brand “Maldives… The Sunny Side of Life.” With strong representation from industry stakeholders, the participation aims to strengthen B2B partnerships, deepen market engagement, and drive sustainable arrival growth.
“ITB Berlin is a cornerstone of our global marketing efforts,” said Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation. “The return of the Maldivian Night and the international press conference reflects our renewed ambition and confidence. This year, we are not only celebrating our partnerships but also preparing to share a bold vision for the future of Maldives tourism.”
The German-speaking and European market continues to play a vital role in the Maldives’ tourism performance. In 2025, Germany ranked among the top source markets with 167,822 arrivals, while Switzerland and Austria maintained strong positions within the top 15 markets. Visit Maldives continues to tailor its campaigns to align with European traveler preferences, highlighting diving, wellness, family travel, and sustainability initiatives.
Through its enhanced presence at ITB Berlin 2026, Visit Maldives aims to amplify global visibility, reinforce strategic alliances, and position the Maldives as a forward-looking, safe, sustainable, and premium destination.
