I’ve seen a lot of beaches on my travels, but the beaches in Australia never fail to amaze me. While visiting Western Australia my friend took me down to Margaret River for the night and we stopped for a swim at beautiful Contos Beach, near Boranup. This is definitely one of the best beaches I’ve ever laid eyes on!
To get to Contos you have to drive for a few kilometers along Caves Road, which is one of the most scenic roads in Western Australia. Once there you’ll be greeted with a magical sight – a long, crescent shaped bay with steep cliffs, white sand and sparkling, bright blue waters.
The beach has a car park and public toilets, and there’s a walking trail loop that takes in a section of the Cape to Cape track. The waves were pretty rough when we visited and the current was strong, so be careful when swimming. As you can imagine this beach is popular with surfers, who visit for the small point break.
