Siyam World Maldives Makes Global History with Guinness World Records Title…

Siyam World Maldives achieved a notable milestone on December 5th by becoming the first resort to earn a Guinness World Records title for the most people snorkeling simultaneously at a single venue.

In collaboration with Freedive Maldives, the resort gathered 307 participants, exceeding the required minimum of 250. Guests, nearby island residents, and snorkelling enthusiasts from the region took part, filling the house reef with activity for the record attempt. Guinness World Records officials were present on-site to verify the attempt, and all participants received official Guinness World Records medals — marking the first such medal ceremony held in the Maldives.

The event highlighted community engagement and interest in marine experiences, aligning with Sun Siyam Resorts’ broader environmental initiatives, which encourage visitors and locals to better understand and protect the country’s marine ecosystems. It also represented a moment of recognition for Maldivian tourism and ocean culture.

“What a moment. Being the first resort in the world to set a Guinness World Records title is something we will always carry with pride, not just for Siyam World and Sun Siyam Resorts, but for the Maldives as well. We have never been the type to follow the usual path; doing the unexpected has always been our style. A huge thank you to everyone from the nearby islands who came together to make this possible,” said Ausy Waseem, Resort Manager at Siyam World.

The record adds to the resort’s history of organising large-scale and experience-focused events. Siyam World now holds a Guinness World Records title shared with its participants, contributing to the Maldives’ presence in global tourism and recreational activities.
