A new two-volume set of children’s colouring and activity books inspired by the Maldives has been released on Amazon, aimed at keeping young travellers occupied while introducing them to aspects of island life. Titled Your Maldives Holiday Adventure, the books are designed for children aged 4 to 8 and include simple activities, illustrations, and basic facts about the destination.
The first volume focuses on the marine environment, featuring scenes such as reef fish, sea turtles, coral, and snorkelling activities. The second volume turns to life on land, with content related to local culture, sustainability, and everyday island experiences.
Published by Storyteller Press, the books are written by Sharon Garrett, who has previously worked in the Maldives tourism sector. She has said the idea developed from considering how families manage downtime during holidays, particularly when young children need a break from outdoor activities or when weather conditions are less favourable.
Each book contains 25 colouring pages along with straightforward activities intended to be accessible for younger children. The titles are available individually through Amazon using a print-on-demand model, which avoids large print runs and storage requirements.
Sharon Garrett is also developing similar books for other destinations. One upcoming project focuses on South Wairarapa in New Zealand, where she currently lives, and will incorporate elements of local culture and Te Reo Māori. This title is expected to coincide with the Featherston Booktown Karukatea Festival in 2026.
The Your Maldives Holiday Adventure books are available internationally via Amazon.
