Marriott Bonvoy’s Portfolio of Resorts in the Maldives celebrate the #Bigge…

Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of resorts in the Maldives are committed to reducing the impact on the environment and promoting sustainable tourism practices. Recently, the resorts undertook initiatives and activations to celebrate Earth Hour on March 25, 2023, to raise awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint. These initiatives are part of a broader commitment to environmental stewardship and promote responsible tourism practices. The resorts encourage guests to be mindful of their impact on the environment and take part in creating a more sustainable future.

JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa took a significant step by turning off all non-essential lights for one hour during Earth Hour. The resort also organized a candlelight evening at their dining venues Aailaa, Hashi & Shio with a special setup of lights and a candle lit signage. In addition, they created a black sand artwork with “60+” signage on the beach to promote the Earth Hour celebration, and the Little Griffins Kids Club held a movie night for the little ones at the pirate ship. W Maldives offered guests an unforgettable experience with an ocean front fire grill dinner, with unplugged music, premium cuts, Maldivian lobster, and seafood straight from the charcoal grill. The guests enjoyed a bonfire toasted dessert under the stars, making it a unique and memorable celebration. Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa went beyond the hour and turned off the restaurant lights for 90 minutes and set up a 60+ signage made of candles at Anchorage. The resort also featured a special cocktail called “The Black Out” in all restaurants. This cocktail was inspired by the Earth Hour initiative, and its use of locally sourced ingredients reflects the resort’s commitment to sustainability. The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort participated in Earth Hour by turning off the lights in all public spaces during the designated hour, reducing its energy consumption and carbon footprint. To celebrate this occasion, the resort created a special candlelight dinner experience with live music, offering guests a unique and romantic ambience.
